DELCIOUS FREE TIME

Today, after work, after stopping to buy a birthday present, after picking up the kids from Grammy's, we headed to Savageland for a birthday party. Imagine my utter delight when the birthday girls' Mom (who happens to live across the street from us) said, "Go ahead and leave for a couple hours".

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

See, we live a crazy busy life around the Sutton house. Especially this week as we have been preparing for a home appraisal, scraping lemonade concentrate out of our ice maker (don't ask), preparing for camp at Sweyolakan, and, of course, working crazy hours.

I ran out of there for my dear life. Ran home to a quiet (albeit messy) house. A cool one at that. Thank goodness for central air. What shall I do with this newfound freedom? I could dive into the fascinating pamphlet that the Jehovah Witnesses left for me in my screen door. Or, I could get into my suit and float on my yellow floaty-thing in the pool. I could turn on Suze Orman and wonder why her hairstyle never changes. All I know is that if I don't spend this hour and a half relaxing, my Mother will kill me.

Seriously, she said so.

Ok, not really in those particular words...but she got her point across. I have to slow down.
So, I'm catching up on my favorite blogs, listening to my favorite music. I'm NOT hollering at my son to close the slider...again...or investigating yet another scratch or sliver on my daughter's foot. These moments are precious. I'm rejuvinating, mellowing out and unwinding. I will be a calmer, more attentive Mama when I pick them up.

Ahhh, delicious free time.
